You know when you strike a deal with someone? You do this for me and I'll do that for you... That's how this bikes restoration came about. I needed a load of work carried out on a Toyota Starlet and an MGB and David, the owner of the XL needed a hand in its restoration... although we're not quite done yet.
If you browse this and the Starlet page, you will notice that video footage has been taken on both the car and the bike and the numbering on each video doen't always follow order. Depending on what the main focus of the video was, will determine what page I posted the video... they are essentially linked though. Whatever the case, we will begin here with video number three, because that's where we began with this old Honda XL250. Cheers
In this chapter, we start on the bikes.

So this is where the lines get blurred. At the time of making these videos, I was performing much work on an XC Fairmont and MGB (both cars elsewhere on this site) and the videos kind of intertwined with each other. David had offered to remove the engine on my MGB as well, which I accepted as it needed one or two items attending to. Further, I was about to begin painting the tank, side covers and guards on the bike. Although they are bike related, I decided to put details of that work on a separate page on this site under the 'More" tab. The page is titled 'Painting the fuel tank - DIY Painting in Acrylic.'
With Part 12 being body work related, we will need to begin with 13. More engine work on our 250.

In this chapter, we look at hubs, brakes and a bit of the exhaust.

Oh dear!! We have nasty engine noises...
|
Almost there.

Okay, so we didn't achieve the outcome we were after and it's been a disappointment for both David and I... If ever I felt that I failad at anything it was this bike, which is worse, because it doesn't belong to me. But all isn't lost... the book remains open on this one and we will be revisiting it sooner than later with the larger and much stouter 500cc engine. That will really convert the bike from a slightly noisy ornament, to a torque monster. Stay around... we're not done yet!
