So this page is about the painting techniques I've used on the cars and in particular, the Honda XL250 fuel tank. As a DIY guy, I only use acrylic products, but on the bike tank, I used Iso free 2 pack for the clear coat. I also decided that the original silver was a little on the boring side, so added blue and black to pull it down to a cooler, more 'pale gunmetal' hue. I then added a multi-colour metallic highlight to the first clear coat to give it a further lift. I'm pleased with how it turned out... I just wanted a couple of subtle alterations so on first glance it would appear to be a stock paint job, but look closer and it would pop. Take a look...
